The Feet of Jesus

Last week, I mentioned in the sermon that scientists (people much smarter than I) have estimated that scripture indicates that in his three years of ministry, Jesus walked about 3125 miles. Over his lifetime he walked approximately 21,525 miles. The Jesus trail, alone, which is often referred to as his journey to Jerusalem was 40 miles one way. As we hear the statement, "to be the hands and feet of Jesus", we often take that statement to mean we should being doing something rather than just saying the words. While I believe in action wholeheartedly, I also believe that to be at the feet of Jesus takes on a whole new meaning when we look at the life Mary, the sister of Lazarus. In most passages referring to Mary, we see her positioned at the feet of Jesus and when we look at ourselves, I wonder if we truly understand what it means to be at the feet of Jesus. To honor and love him in a way that is so profound. so faithful and so believing that we are willing to be in that position of learning, love and service. This week, we will focus on the Feet of Jesus as we travel through the new testament with Mary ending with the act of love that Jesus shows in John 13:8 when He washes the feet of the disciples and has this encounter with Peter "Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.”
